What is the "with-God" life?
The “with-God” life is a way of describing the whole Christian life as it was always meant to be lived — life in continual relationship, companionship, and cooperation with God.
Sow
Faith is the beginning of our journey with God—Abraham, Moses, David, Israel, Mary, the Disciples—everyone began with a small seed of faith that eventually grew into God’s promise and ultimately His Kingdom come on earth. In Matthew 13, Jesus compares the kingdom of God to a mustard seed that was sown in a field and eventually grew into a flourishing tree bearing fruit for all to enjoy. To experience the “With-God” life we must always first sow seeds of faith. And we can do this when we are aware of God’s presence and join in partnership and cooperation with God the Holy Spirit. A life of sowing seeds of faith then creates good soil for the next generation to follow as we follow Christ.

Our faith in Christ does not end with our initial faith or salvation in Christ—our faith is depicted as a journey of continual relationship, a life-long walk with Christ and the Church. It is a journey of spiritual growth as we seek to abide in Christ and work out our faith in fear and trembling everyday. A “With-God” life is one that nurtures spiritual growth by being rooted in God’s word daily, the living and active Word of God, and being devoted to prayer. As Jesus continually remained connected to the Father in prayer, we are to experience a vibrant prayer life with God in Christ. Most of all, we do not do this alone—we are called to grow together into Christ, meaning our spiritual growth is best nurtured, worked-out and measured in community.

A vibrant life with God is made visible by the fruit that is displayed in our lives—the fruit of the spirit, the greatest being love, that flows out of an abundant inner life with God. A “With-God” life is one that bears good fruit through our continual proximity to Jesus, the Vine. As we bear good fruit, we lead through hospitality, fully opening our lives to Christ and to others, without strings attached, just as Jesus has done for us. We then become gifts of Joyful Generosity, giving of our time, talents, and resources as we first seek the Kingdom of God. Out of a deep loving union with God, it overflows into everything we do causing our full lives to join in with the mission of God—our life together testifies to the truth of the gospel as we live out the great commission.
